Love Never Dies: AU DVD

I was able to get my hands on the full video ripped (thanks aussie’s for being so fabulous and fast at uploading us americans a copy since we have to wait 3 friggin months) and watched “Love Never Dies” aka Phantom 2.

I liked it, just didn’t love it like I hoped I would. The staging was beautiful, the camera work was amazing and captured the set beautifully. I liked the changes they did for Meg, she didn’t seem so nasty toward Christine like she was in the London version soundtrack. Raoul was still a jerk and screwed, as with Madame Giry. Anna was a lovely Christine, her voice was beyond gorgeous and her looks breathtaking. The costumes were so amazing. i loved the colors. And here’s where it ends, Ben was ok. *hides* I didn’t love him like I expected. I tried very hard not to compare him to Ramin or anyone else. But I felt his acting was lacking a little. I mean it seemed a little over dramatized and forced. Most of the time when he was singing he looked like a deer in the headlights, I didn’t understand his wide-eyed look all the time there. I’m not hating, just he’s not my preference. The ending where she dies was too dramatic, awkward, and forced for me. I don’t feel it.

And I loved the additions was the music/score from the original that they weaved in there. It was a nice call back to the first play.

overall i rate it 3/5. I still love the music, but the play leaves much to be desired.
